Creation Directed Toward the Future
The Sanctuary wall-cladding project is an artistic and practical initiative of the Artists of the Third Temple, seeking to advance real preparations toward the building of the Third Temple.
The project is not an archaeological reconstruction of the past, but creation directed toward the future – out of the belief that the Third Temple is destined to be built by human hands, as emerges from the words of the Rambam (Maimonides) in Hilchot Melachim (the Laws of Kings).
From Ideas to Action
Out of this understanding, we seek to move from the world of ideas and study into the world of action, and to examine how artistic and architectural components worthy of the House of God can be prepared even today.
The project combines in-depth study of the Torah sources, the words of our Sages and the halachic authorities, together with artistic research, architectural planning, and the development of models and working samples.
Original Jewish Art for the Sanctuary
As part of the work, various options for cladding the Sanctuary walls are being examined – striving to create original Jewish art, dignified and full of majesty, that will express the holiness of the place and the splendor of the Shekhinah.
Part of Public Preparations
The project is part of a broader vision of public preparations for the building of the Temple, like those made in the days of King David toward the First Temple.
We believe that when the people of Israel engage with the Temple – studying its laws, planning its details and preparing what its building requires – they take an active part in bringing the vision closer to reality.
The Sanctuary wall-cladding project is an invitation to think, to create and to act out of responsibility, faith and hope – and to be part of the generation preparing itself and its deeds toward the building of the Third Temple, speedily in our days. Amen.
